Video Art

Self Portrait.

My approach to video has been the making of visual prose, a chain of images and sound that guide a journey through movement and time. These films have no beginning, no ending, and no climax, like poetry, they work as a grid. moving from a place of self-awareness, I would like to graduate from making visual pros to metaphorically directing novels. As in engaging in dramatic story telling in the form of a narrative film.

Like Rainer Werner Fassbinder in New German Cinema, I am also interested in revealing the complexity of the banal through the everyday. The trained audience of Hollywood can stay with an approach closer to the novel than the poem. So that the director has an opportunity to break and subvert a dramatic story revealing underlying realities, and subtexts, that rely on class struggle, racism, and sexism. As a director I am interested in using the formal elements of film to break taboos through a desire to subvert.
